Kick the Habit – Starbursts
I have to admit, one of my guilty pleasures is to eat a whole bunch of Starburst. I used to, back in the day, buy a whole bag, and eat the whole thing in one night. I did not care what I was eating then, or how much. When I started to work on losing weight I knew that I had to cut down on all of that. But I also knew, just like soda, I could not cut it out completely. That is why I still allow myself to have Starburst, but only in moderation, and only as a treat. I no longer keep them in my room, so they are so much easier to eat while I am sitting at my desk. I now put them all in the bowl on the dining room table in my house. This way, if I want one, I have to get up and go to the bowl to grab one. This also means that I will not eat the whole bag, and my housemates will eat part of the bag. So far this has worked out well for me. When they are there, I will grab one when I am leaving for work, and one when I come home. I will grab one as I walk out for the gym, and one as I come back. I try to keep myself to only grabbing one at a time, but sometimes I do slip and eat more than one. When I do that, I just don’t allow myself to have one for a while.
I would say that if you have any type of candy that you just love and can’t go without, don’t cut it out, spread it out. Share it with others, and put in in a place that isn’t as much of a convenience to you.
